Correctional Treatment

Correctional treatment specialists serve as an advocate for inmate rights, counsel inmates, and help plan for life after release or parole.

Corrections

Correctional officers oversee those who have been arrested and await trial or have already been sentenced. They stand accountable for inmates and work with inmates to prevent escapes and other disturbances.

Crime Scene Technician

Crime scene technicians collect and analyze evidence at crime scenes that can be used in court, which may include fingerprints and other forensic materials.

Information Security

Those who work in information security monitor and collect evidence against computer and Internet crime, which could be in the form of fraud, theft, or financial crime, for example.

Private Security

Private security officers work in retail stores, schools, in firms, and in private duty to protect against crime and also to collect evidence and investigate crimes.

Police Officer

Police officers are responsible for the protection of citizens, keeping the peace, and enforcing laws.

Probation/Parole Officer

Probation officers supervise those who have been placed on probation, while parole officers do the same for those on parole. In some states, one person can fulfill both roles.
